What does the crest represent and breifly explain each.

Represents STA’s location, mandate, and patron.

• Location - the blue chevron or “Y” represents the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers in Mendota. 

• Mandate - the red sword and crosses are borrowed from the Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and symbolize our affiliation with the Archdiocese and our mandate to teach Catholic doctrine. 

• Patron - the golden sun in a pentagon is a traditional symbol of St. Thomas Aquinas’s guiding light.
