Establishing these with a patient helps protect against inappropriate clinician relationships. Consistency with these is crucial for a patient's plan of care. A patient might cross these if they've been in the hospital for a long time.

Explanations of events circulating from person to person pertaining to an event on shift is a rumor. Casual conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true is gossip. We have this kind of tolerance around these two concepts.

This member of the UCHealth team can perform a patient sit, assist in applying restraints but they are not permitted to supervise patients while they are using the bathroom.

The primary RN, the charge RN, an IP roamer and security will respond to a code gray if you need support for your patient. If verbal de-escalation is unsuccessful, the code gray team may use these types of restraints for a patient.

If you were sent home due to low census but then are called later by the staffing office to return to work. You state you cannot return to work for 2 hours due to a personal issue. The staffing office considers it this type of violation.

Respecting personal space, presenting with neutral body language, establishing verbal contact, being concise, identifying the patients wants and feelings, listening closely and setting clear limits are all ways to do this for a patient.
