Even though HiTek has ridiculous “bonding” and “improvement” activities for the sake of creating a better environment (which it doesn’t actually do), the impending threat of losing funding or having projects terminated still drives the scientists to make progress on their research and strive for the “scientific breakthrough,” a sort of hierarchy somewhat similar to the rigid class system in Tocqueville’s aristocracy. If HiTek was a truly more democratic environment, would the scientists still be as motivated as they are?
