No, it has to be put in as a "NOW" order. Pt's can refuse PRN medication, but can not refuse a chemical restraint.
When a patient is restrained to the bed, when and how do they get released?
When they are calm and cooperative...when they can follow staff directives...if they fall asleep
They are to be released one limb at a time with approx. 5-15min between each limb.
