Because the Land could not support both Abram and Lot with all their flocks and herds living so close together

In Genesis 13:9- Abram said, the whole countryside is open to you, Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. if you want the land to the left, then I will take the land on the right, if you prefer the land on eh right, then I will go to the left.
What did Abram did when he heard what was happening?
When Abram heard that his nephew Lot had been captured, he gathered 318 trained men and pursued the bad people and chased them and they fled.
Why did God see the people's ability to take care of themselves as a bad thing? and what did God do?
Because God does not want us to rely on ourselves, we should always need God.
And God began to confuse their language so they couldn't understand each other
Even though Abram did not know where he was going but yet he obeyed God, what does that teach us?
when Abram gave Lot a choice on the land to choose, what did the Lot do?
So Lot chose for himself the good land that looks good to the eyes
in Genesis 13: 10 Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan valley in the direction of Zoar, the whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord.
After Abram rescued Lots and all that belongs to him, Abraham met a king who gave Abram bread and wine and then bless him and Abram gave him a tenth of all the goods that he had recovered.

it means that when we try to make peace then we are truly children of God
Abram made peace with Lot even though the Land actually belongs to him for God call Abram and not Lot but yet he let go so that peace can reign and GOd blessed him for that- so even when we feel cheated by making peace, GOd will always bless us for being a peace maker and He will be proud of us as his children

Mathew 5: 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Even though Lots was not very nice to Abram, yet Abram loves him by rescuing him and his family from the hands of wicked kings.
we also need to love our enemies, people who do not necessarily like us or abuse us, we should not hate them, we should start by being nice to our siblings even when they hurt our feelings. we should always show each other love.
