Hannah was the mother of Samuel. She was barren. She was very sad and every year she went to the temple to pray. 

Elkanah had 2 wives. Hannah and Peninnah. He loved Hannah more but Peninnah had many children. One day at the temple she prayed with her lips to God. Eli the priest was watching her and thought she was drunk. She said she was not but was praying to God for a child. He said to go and that may the Lord give her what she asked. She did have a baby and his name was Samuel. She dedicated him to the Lord and brough him to Eli at the temple when he was @5 years old.

Angel of the Lord cam to Gideon, told him he was going to fight the midianites. Asked the Lord for signs of the fleece, put a fleece on the floor (make the fleece wet and floor dry) then he asked for the opposite. 

Gideon led 300 (started with thousands and paired down to 300 to show that the battle belonged to the Lord). Gideon overheard the midianites talking about him at their camp and knew the Lord would go before him. 

Defeated the midianites.

His enemy was the King of Moab (Eglon King). The Moabities, Ammonites, Amalekites opperssed Isreal for 18 years. 

Ehud got a dagger, hide it under his clothes, brought a gift to the King, and had the King send away the servants, (because Ehud had a secret message), Ehud thrust the dagger into the King's belly and then snuck out of the King's chamber, where the King died.

Mara means bitter and she was bitter over the death of her husband and the death of her two sons. She was bitter against God and the bitterness was crippling to her spirit.

Describe the story of the Fall of Jericho

Took up the arc of the covenant, Armed men went before the priests, rear guard after the arc. There were 7 priests and 7 trumpets. They marched and blew the horns for 6 days. On the 7th day they march around the city 7 times. And Joshua said shout.. They all shouted and the city fell. However, they saved Rahab.

Describe the character traits of Ruth

Ruth was a Moabite woman. SHe was married to Naomi's son, Mahlon. Her husband died before they had children. She stayed LOYAL to Naomi, She was BRAVE and left her homeland, she was LOVING and clung to her mother in law. She was a hard worker and gleamed from the fields all day. She was GENEROUS and gave of her food to Naomi. She was Obedient and went to Boaz and became his wife.

Describe the story of Abigail 

Abigail was the wife of Nabal. Daivd's men were protecting Nabal's shepards in the field and sent a messanger to ask Nabal for food and provisions. Nabal was a rude and greedy man and refused to give David's men anything. David got MAD. Another messanger told Abigail what happened and she was brave and kind and had the servants prepare all the food for David and then hurried to meet David. Her bravery and sensibility helped to persuade David not to kill Nabal and she feed his men. He was greatful for her kindness and married her.

Tell the story of the Trojan Horse

The Trojan Horse is a Greek myth about how the Greeks tricked the Trojans into letting them into their city during the Trojan War:

  • The deception: The Greeks built a giant wooden horse and left it outside the city as an offering to the goddess Athena. They pretended to give up the war and sailed away, but secretly hid their best warriors inside the horse.
  • The Trojans fall for it: The Trojans brought the horse into the city and celebrated their victory.
  • The Greeks strike: At night, the Greek warriors emerged from the horse and opened the gates to the rest of the Greek army. The Greeks sacked the city, killing the men and boys and taking the women captive.
