Independent variable is the tested factor, dependent variable depends on changes to the independent variable, and a constant is a factor that remains fixed during an experiment while the independent and dependent variable change.

Scientific hypothesis is an educated guess; a testable explanation for a natural phenomenon. A scientific theory has been supported by many experiments and observations over time.
