The Black Death was a deadly pandemic from 1346–1353 that killed about half of Europe’s population.

It was likely spread by fleas on black rats and came to England in 1348.

On average, ⅔ of the population were killed by this pandemic. There were two types: bubonic and pneumonic.

People didn’t know the real cause and blamed God, bad air, or planetary alignment.

They tried to stop it by cleaning streets and removing waste to fight “bad smells.”

The plague killed millions and caused worker shortages, leading to higher wages.
