How should staff take attendance for the daily program?

Daily attendance should be taken from 8:35 to 9:10. This is to be done before or after you serve your group their breakfast.

What is staff supposed to be doing from 8:05- 8:35am?

Staff will meet in my office/ copy room to go over the day, make copies of one comp and one math page. It is your responsibility to be there promptly and ready to report on your day at 9:10 to either janet or David.

Which trainings are required for all staff members?

All regular staff should have the Safe Church Training.

How often should meetings with all staff be held during the summer camp?

Meetings will be held in the morning from 9:10-9:30 in the buttery with Janet or David.

A family requests to meet you at 2:30pm at the library so they can pick up their child for an appointment.  Is this permitted, why or why not?

This is permitted as long as they have sent a message through class dojo, text or on paper with the date, full name and signature.

What is the procedure for confirming absentee children?

Absentee children should be confirmed by failure to arrive by 9:10.

How should materials be set up for classroom activities?

Staff should ensure the quality and integrity of materials, allocating time for preparation and clean-up. Remind the students of how to use materials and request supplies as needed. Most importantly, do as you say, you are the role model of how to use our materials.

What is the purpose of the Orientation and policy packet?  

The Orientation and policy packet familiarizes staff with specific camp policies and procedures. While you can implement your own rules and style of being a camp counselor, they must align with Blue Skies' values and mission.

What are the expectations for staff during activities taught by other teachers? How should staff be oragnized using the space the best way?

Staff should be seated with the children, supporting by dividing and walking around. Head counselor should split up the group by an even ratio takin into consideration behaviour, support, space.

 What is the phone policy?

Staff have walkies and most communication should be through there. You are in charge of making sure the walkie has enough battery. 


Red and green group will have their phones collected at the beginning of the day. If a call has to be made, it can be made with permission and PRESENCE of the head counselor or directors. If you see a cell phone, its an automatic call home.

What should parents do if a child misses a bus on a field trip day?

The parent has the option to bring them to us. Remember to check them in through dojo!

Medications must include doctor's instructions and be kept confidential but accessible in case of emergencies.

What are the lunch and break time arrangements for full-day programs?

All staff will take a lunch from 12:00-1:00. Staff will find their campers and finish recess or lunch at 1:30. Leave all areas clean and follow your schedule. If you come in half day then you can have a 15 minute break, coordinate with your counselor.

How should cleaning duties be assigned to staff?

Cleaning duties should be assigned daily, including tasks such as wiping down tables and sweeping floors. Please see details on housekeeping sheet.

Reports should be filled out in entirety and without errors, reviewed by relevant personnel, and submitted promptly.

What are the expectations for staff attire?

You should be comfortable enough to be active with the campers. Being unprepared is NOT an excuse to not participate and be involved with the campers. Sneakers are recommended.
