What is the policy regarding lap sitting?
In elementary, its never allowed! In preschool, only females can have kids in their lap if initiated by the child.
What can kids not do in the theater?
Leave to go to the bathroom or get water
What should you be giving the kids throughout the night?
Instructions or direction. You can give options when appropriate but the kids should know what is expected of them at all times.
What are the Matthew 18 principles of conflict resolution?
1. Address a hurt in private
2. Widen the circle
3. Further widen the circle
4. Seperation
What do you do if a kiddo is having a hard time coming into the classroom?
Start by getting on their level, try to connect/distract, comfort parent that they are in good hands, and if necessary parent can place the child in your classroom and you can block the way out but you cannot force the child in.
What do you do if there is a fire?
Refer to the escape plan listed in every classroom, count your kids and bring your rosters, and DO NOT RELEASE ANY CHILDREN UNTIL CLEARED BY FIREFIGHTER.
How do we get kids to game time?
Walking! quietly! in a line! Maybe in a creative way!

What are the end of the night responsibilities?
Clean your classroom, put the box away (make sure and check the content list on top), drop off roster at the front desk and out away goldfish, attend AWESOME team meeting, and sign out!
What should every teacher have a pulse on for every child in their classroom?
Who they say God is!
What do you do if a parent asks if her kids of different ages can be in the same classroom?
Start by humbly and yet confidently explaining the policy that we ask that every child is in their age appropriate classroom. If the parent doesn't comply, seek to understand and involve a coach if necessary. Remember: people over policies!
What policies do we have in place to protect and serve kids with allergies?
1. No outside food in the classrooms.
2. Nut free environment
3. Epipens must be registered at the team leader desk and then left with the childs teacher. Ideally, the coach would administer if need be.
What is the teachers role in during theater?
Fully engage, sit in the middle or within arms reach of all your kids, and help redirect kids when distracted.
Expectations for Transition
Count your kids, have an updated list of your children, set expectations, lastly make sure you leave the current area better than you found it.
What are the expectations of a teacher in our pre-shift meeting?
Be on time, be ready and willing to participate in discussion, and come having already looked over the lesson plan.
What are 3 things to remember when talking to a parent about a kiddo that had a hard night?
1. Positive attitude!
2. Honesty and yet discernment is not dishonesty.
3. Ask how we can partner with the parents to better serve their family
4. Seek to understand
5. Discern btw whether or not the child needs to be present
What are the 3 levels of lock-down?
TRUST AND KEEP CALM
Level 1- Constant state of the TG building.
Level 2- Program continues but no transitions and count your kids
Level 3- Programs stop, lights off, doors locked and barricaded, children positioned in the safest place in the room (hidden/out of sight). Level 3 lock down is only cleared by a verified police officer.
What do I do with a kid that doesn't want to engage in an activity?
Seek to understand, encourage them to join in, remember that the goal of the activity is to connect so adjust if necessary.
What are two tools in discipling a child.
Redirection and Time-In v. Time-Out
When can you ask off and how?
1. Ideally, you would have asked off before the month began by requesting off through Vol Pro.
2. Outside 24 hours- email MK, she may give you permission to find a replacement or be off if we are over staffed.
3. Inside 24 hours- text MK, she may or not may give you off.
What are 3 appropriate/encouraged questions you could ask a parent to connect with them?
1. How was your night in _______?
2. How can we be praying for you?
3. Ask about their church/faith history.
4. Be free to ask for clarity on something their child said about what's going on in their family.
5. What are you learning _______?
6. How has your week been?
Bathroom policies!
1. Teachers go in the volunteer room or main TG hallway.
2. One teacher or a coach watches the child walk to and from the bathroom in the hallway.
3. On playground, two teachers escort the child to the restroom. Sweep the bathroom to make sure its empty. While standing at the door, send the child in by themselves to use the restroom.
4. ONLY FEMALES ARE ABLE TO ASSIST A CHILD IN USING THE BATHROOM.
Game room- by the bathrooms and by the main door
Parent present and all the information.
If it is an unregistered event but they have a security tag, they are good to go. If they don't have a tag, make sure they have been to the front desk to fill out paperwork.
If it is a registered event, explain and send them to the team leader.
