Why might some kids be in foster care?
There's lots of reasons why kids might be in foster care, it's usually because their parent is struggling to keep them safe and take care of them they way they are supposed to.
Your upstairs brain is your fingers, your downstairs brain is your palm, and the fear center/alarm is your thumb tucked in.

Is it safe to touch other's private parts?
No, it is not safe for you to touch other's private parts, or for others to touch your private parts.
Is it okay for a parent, foster parent, teacher, coach, or other adult to hurt a child's body by hitting them, whooping them, kicking them, or something else?
No, it is never okay for an adult to hurt a child's body.
What does it mean if we flip our lid?
It means that our fear center alarm has went off because it sensed danger- this could be because we felt a big feeling like scared, sad, angry, or upset, or because we didn't feel safe.
Are secrets safe?
Sometimes secrets are not safe. If an adult is telling you to keep a secret that makes you feel uncomfortable or hurts you or other people, then you should tell another safe adult right away.
Should I ask before touching someone else, like a hug?
Yes, asking before touching other's people bodies, like giving hugs, can help make sure that you feel safe and comfortable and that other people feel safe and comfortable.
How might kids feel if they have been homeless or didn't have enough food before?
Kids might feel scared, sad, or hurt if they have been homeless or didn't have enough food before.
How can we close our lid after it's flipped?
We need to find ways to help our body relax and feel calm to bring our lid back on and turn on our thinking upstairs brain.
What if i tell someone and they don't listen?
If you go to an adult to talk about something important that has happened, and they don't help, then you should go to another safe adult and tell them until someone listens.
