Name three organs in the digestive tract.
Mouth, Oesophagus, Stomach, Small intestine, Large intestine, Anus
What are the names of the blood vessels and what are their functions?
Arteries: carry blood away from the heart around the body
Veins: carry blood towards the heart
Capillaries: connect the veins and arteries and allow different nutrients to pass into cells

Describe how the process of digestion occurs in either the stomach, small intestine, or large intestine
Stomach: stomach juices mix with the bolus to break down the nutrients in food and form a substance called chyme.
Small intestine: the chyme mixes with pancreatic juice and bile from the liver to form a substance called chyle. Nutrients are absorbed from the chyle into the bloodstream.
Large intestine: Water is absorbed from the undigested food and faeces are formed
Describe the function of two of the parts of blood.
Plasma: liquid that contains nutrients, water and waste
Red blood cells: have a red substance called haemoglobin that can transport oxygen and carbon dioxide
White blood cells: protect the body from infection
Platelets: stick together to stop bleeding
What organs make up the respiratory tract?
Mouth, Nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli
How do the kidneys remove waste from the blood?
The renal artieries carry waste into the kidneys, which have tiny tubes that filter the blood. The clean blood leaves through the renal veins
