These are two parts, the contemplative and the calculative.
What are the parts of the intellect?
These are superhuman, virtue, continence, incontinence, vice, and brutishness.
What are the six varieties of character?
These three objects are the good, the pleasant, and the useful.
What are the three objects of love?
This is someone who wishes AND does what is good for the sake of another.
What is a friend?
These are truly happy.
What are the gods?
This is the object of contemplation
What is Truth (eternal truth)?
This is how men become gods.
What is "excess of virtue"?
These are the three types of friendship.
What is friendship based on the good (virtue), based on the pleasant, and based on the useful.
This is the activity of simply wishing well of another (but not necessarily doing it).
What is good will (or benevolence)?
This is the best type of life to live (not pleasure) but...
What is the contemplative life?
These five are: Art, scientific knowledge, practical wisdom, philosophic wisdom, and intuitive reason.
What are the intellectual virtues?
This state of character is even worse than incontinence because at least the incontinent person wishes they could control themselves.
What is self-indulgence?
This is the friendship based upon mutual admiration for each other’s virtues.
What is the good (or virtuous) friendship?
This is the essence of friendship, according to Aristotle, and makes it difficult to have more than a few truly good friends.
What is living together?
This is the thing that Aristotle says "completes" an activity.
What is pleasure?
This virtue is the knowledge of how to make things.
What is art?
This is a synonym for "continence".
What is self-control?
This is the best kind of friendship?
What is good (virtuous) friendship?
This is one of the reasons why happy men need friends.
Because friends are good, and the happy person has what is good
OR
Because a happy man needs people to do good to
OR
Because a happy man enjoys having someone to share his happiness with.
This is the kind of nature we have.
What is a composite nature?
This virtue is the union of two other intellectual virtues: intuitive reason and science.
What is Philosophic wisdom?
This is the worst level of incontinence, the most degenerate.
What is brutishness?
This activity is the essence of friendship.
What is loving?
These type of people become "objects of complaint" (164)
Who are those who do not fulfil what they agreed to?
This type of contemplative activity is the "complete happiness" of man.
What is the activity of reason?
