explain why swimming rescues should not be attempted when a reaching or rope rescue is possible. explain why and how a rescue swimmer should avoid contact with the victim.
the reach and rope rescue keep you the rescuer safer than swimming in to get them. a rescue swimmer should only make contact with the victim if they are uncontious, because the victim might be flailing their arms which could cause the rescuer to drowned, when rescuing a victim always use equitment, like a floatation device. to do a reaching rescue you grab onto something attached to the ground or side of the pool, then reach out and grab the victim or hand them something to grab onto, now pull them to shore. to do a rope rescue you grab something that floats and is attached to a rope then throw the floating end to the victim while holding onto the other end of the rope, when they can reach the floatation device to grab onto it pull them in using the rope. for a swimming rescue you will take a floatation devise and swim so you are near but out of reach of the victim push the floatation devise to them and let them calm down before getting near them then when they have calmed down swim them to shore.

explain describe a situation where you would use the bowline and sheet bend knot.
a bowline works well for securing guy lines through the grommets on a tent or dining fly, it is also a good knot to tie around your waist or around someone requiring rescue. a sheet bend is the preferred knot for tying together two ropes of the same or different diameters.
describe proper body positioning in a watercraft. explain the importance of it.
While all boats can capsize if you're not careful, some, like canoes, are less stable than others. To prevent your boat from tipping over, keep your center of gravity as low as possible and don't lean too far to port or starboard. When paddling a canoe, sit on one of the seats facing forward or kneel just in front of it with your knees spread out. If you're paddling by yourself, you'll want to be in the back of the boat. When rowing a rowboat, sit on the midship seat facing aft. The coxswain should sit on the aft seat and guide you.
