Cell Phone. Orange is the most popular European cell phone carrier. Typically most phones won't work in Europe unless you have a roaming agreement with your carrier. AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM phones that can be unlocked and used everywhere. Verizon and Sprint are CDMA networks that will not work anywhere else except the USA. (iPhone 4S+ is an exception)
