4. In the 1700s, Carl Linnaeus designed a system for classification of organisms into2 Kingdoms called Plantae and Animalia. It was not until the 1960s that Thomas Whittakersuggested a 5 kingdom classification system that also included Monera, Protista and Fungi.Carl Woese later proposed a reorganization of the five kingdoms into three domains, Eukarya, Eubacteria and Archaea. When Charles Darwin published his findings on evolution, biologists began to use cladograms to classify organisms based on evolutionary ancestry. (Refer to graph # ) Now, DNA can even be used to group organisms.

How was the system of classifying organisms able to change after so many years of using the original Linnaeus system of the kingdoms, Plantae and Animalia?

A. The system of classification changed when more a more famous scientist presented a method.

B. The system of classification changed as new credible scientific discoveries were made

C.  The system of classification changed when Carl Linnaeus was proven wrong.

D. The system of classification changed based on the most current method.

C.  The system of classification changed when Carl Linnaeus was proven wrong.

Every cell in our body needs oxygen and nutrients to produce energy. When we inhale, oxygen is taken into and transported to various parts of the body. Cells use oxygen to break down the nutrients from food to release energy. During this process waste products are produced. Which statement BEST describes the organ system is working together during this process?

A.The immune system take in and provides oxygen to the respiratory system, which then delivers the oxygen to the excretory system where it is used to break down food for energy.

B. The musculoskeletal system takes in and provides oxygen to the circulatory system, which then delivers the oxygen to the reproductive system that uses it to break down food for energy.

C. The respiratory system take in and provide oxygen to the circulatory system, which then delivers the oxygen to cells that use it to break down energy for food.

D. The reproductive system takes in and provides oxygen to the nervous system, which then delivers the oxygen to the digestive system that uses it to break down food for energy.
