What is energy?
The ability to cause changes in matter. Energy is involved when matter moves or changes its shape.
What is a circuit?
A circuit is a complete pathway made of conductors through which electric current can flow.
Give a definition and an example of reflection
Reflection- The bouncing of light off an object. (Mirror)
Looking at diagram #1, which one circuit will work and why?

Conductors allow electricity to easily travel through them. (Wires made of copper)
Insulators prevent the flow of electricity.

Refraction- The bending of light as it passes at an angle from one type of matter into another. (Straw in water, Rainbow)

A parallel circuit contains two or more paths for electric currents to flow through.
A series circuit has only one path to follow to and from the energy source.

Both switches need to be closed for light bulb 1 to be turned on. The circuit needs to have a complete flow of electricity.
