Every strand is provided with a copy of the most up-to-date syllabus template. Different tiers have different expectations when it comes to revising the syllabus. This tier is required to start from the syllabus template (instead of last year’s syllabus).

Publications can work with different types of documents including Word docs, PDFs, and Excel tables to create handouts for your handout packets. When this is done to a document, it makes it impossible for us to edit.

Publications secures copyright permissions while lead writers work on revising or developing strand materials. Should you wait to include a piece of copyrighted material until permission has been secured or should you assume permission will be granted?

Assume permission will be secured and write the strand materials using the copyrighted work. Permissions are rarely denied and Publications will reach out immediately to figure out a solution.

On the syllabus template there is a space for “talking points” but I think it would make more sense to embed them in the instructional steps. Should I include them in the talking points section or the instructional steps, or both?

Since the handouts packet is compiled by the Publications department, Lead Writers are not expected or encouraged to guess what the final page numbers of the packet will be. How does a Lead Writer indicate that they would like Publications to fill in a page number during proofing?
