What is a hasty search?

How is a signal mirror used?
a. Outstretch one hand in the direction of the airplane, leaving the palm facing you.
b. With the mirror, reflect sunlight into the palm your outstretched hand.
c. Slowly bring the mirror to chest level while maintaining the reflected light on your hand
d. Move your outstretched hand out of the way. Maneuver the mirror so that the light reflection is in the direction of the overhead aircraft. Move your hand in and out in front of the beam to create flashes or simply manipulate the mirror.

An EPIRB is generally used as a maritime emergency beacon, it is typically activated either by contact with water or by being flipped upside down. The Abbreviation is "Emergency Position Indicating Radio Transmitter".

1 short blast = Forward the line (team moves forward)
2 short blasts = Stop the line (team stops). If you are moving and hear only one blast, stop anyway.
3 short blasts = Help or danger signal (Stop immediately)
1 long blast = Assemble on the signal origin (the person blowing the whistle)
