Beginning stage: traditionally it begins when a couple marries. Priorities include building a relationship, working out respective roles, and setting goals for future. Parenting stage: Priorities are focused on raising children. Less time for couple time. Launching stage: children begin to leave home and become independent. Middle-age stage: After children leave home, parents have more time to focus on being a couple again. May reassess careers and hobbies. Retirement stage: More time for leisure activities.
