When is it ok to miss a scheduled meeting without informing my Case Manager?

When is (except for emergencies) never. If you need to reschedule a meeting, try to let your Case Manager know 24 hours in advance or as soon as possible. Your Case Manager will do the same for you if they need to reschedule/cancel a meeting. This is a show of respect for the other person's time.

When is for upcoming appointments, job related issues, court dates (etc.).

They are not provided for leisure (non-necessary) travel.

What is False!  While loans might be something to consider, there are other financial aid options like grants, scholarships, and work-study. Your case manager can help you navigate all of these!

How safe/secure is the information shared between a client and Case Manager?

NONE of the information shared is available or repeated to anyone outside of the administrative/Youth Development office without the foreknowledge of the client.  Additionally, request involving outside entities (education, treatment or med info, legal issues, etc.) will never be initiated/started without client notification through a Disclosure Authorization form.

As a reminder discussions involving sensitive information can always be moved to a priviate location such is the classroom in the Administrative/Youth Development Office.

Is the type of assistance a youth can receive from their Case Manager limited to what is specified on the check-in forms?

What is no.  Case Managers are here to help with whatever they possibly can.  If you have a concern or question, PLEASE bring it up and they'll help in whatever way they can.

Why do Case Managers require so much personal information during the initial check-in process?

Some of the information is required by Washington State only for those presently homeless,  Other information is required only for those under 18.  All of the information is used so your Case Manager knows how they can help you, and much of the questions are based on years of effective Case Management.  We are here to help you, and can't do that without knowing your needs.

Can my Case Manager give me a ride?

What is maybe, it depends.  Case Managers can provide rides for individuals of the same gender, or if there are 3+ people in the vehicle at all times.  Rides are usually reserved for appointments related to Case Management goals.

What is: The Coffee Oasis Crisis, Sara (Summit Health Management WA), KMH, PCHS/Mobile Van, Doctor/PCP. (Case Managers are great at helping with applications and assisting with calls if those make you anxious)

What is yes.  With the exception of Salvation Army, there are no housing/shelter facilities accepting people unless clean and sober.  Your Case Managers are available to help you once you make this decision.

What is False. Your Case Manager can help you begin the housing process and may even get you into temporary housing (shelters, Oxford Housing, hotel/motel) quickly, but permanent housing will take longer, and may depend on the resources you already have (credit, income, etc.).

What is by asking my Case Manager about local organizations or resources.  Places like St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill and other resources are available and can provide interview clothes (shirts, pants, shoes, and belts).

Absolutely not. Internships are based on availability, the needs and characteristics (the fit) of if the youth, and the hours of availability.

Can a Case Manager give money to help out a client?

What is "no" for any reason.  Your Case Manager is not permitted to provide money for any reason, but can provide--on a "needs" basis (appointment, job, training, etc.) others means such as a gas card or tokens.

You absolutely should.  If you're investing your time and abilities into the Internship, you will come out better prepared for a job, and (IF AVAILABLE AND OFFERED) you remain there as paid staff.
