What are the 3 Sacraments of Initiation?
Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Name 4 of the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit
Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, wisdom, understanding, counsel, fear of the Lord
What is a venial sin?
Venial sin wounds our relationship with Christ. It makes it more difficult to resist temptation for greater sins and can be committed without active will. Meaning you can commit venial sin through thoughtlessness or carelessness without intending offense.
What affect does Baptism have on us?
Baptism erases original sin, and unites us with Christ and His Church.
Name 4 of the 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Longanimity (long suffering), gentleness, faith, modesty, chastity, continency (self-control).
What is a mortal sin?
Mortal sin kills our soul. It completely separates us from God and our Guardian Angel. For a sin to be mortal, it must be a serious sin, one must know it’s a serious sin, and do it anyway.
What does the Eucharist do for us?
Nourishes our soul. Invites Jesus inside of us. Unites us to Christ. Strengthens us against temptation.
What is the difference between Fruits versus Gifts?
Fruit is something that inevitably appears on a healthy tree. (Things we will gain over time by living well and following the church’s teachings.) Gifts, however, are freely and unconditionally given regardless of the ability of the receiver to use them well.
Who goes to Hell?
The Catholic Church teaches that any person who dies unrepentant in the state of mortal sin (even one) goes to Hell. A person who is truly sorry and repentant of their sins before death would not go to Hell.
What does Confirmation do for us?
Seals our soul as a soldier of Christ, allows us to receive the Holy Spirit and his gifts. Reaffirms our commitment to the Church and all of its teachings. Strengthens us to preach the gospel and church teachings to others. And completes our initiation in the Catholic Faith.
Who goes to Purgatory?
Any person who died having committed venial sin or having gone to confession, has not done adequate penance to erase their purgatory. When we break a window, we can say we’re sorry and be forgiven. However, the window still needs to be paid for and that payment is Purgatory.
Who goes to Heaven?
Any person who dies in the state of grace with no stain of sin or dies as a martyr for Christ (being killed for refusing to give up your faith). Most who go straight to Heaven are infants or small children. Anyone dying in the state of grace during the armistice for souls also would go straight to Heaven. All souls in Purgatory will eventually go to Heaven after paying their debt.
