Why should you restrict time in bed?

If used for other things, your brain may be activated when in bed which makes it much harder to fall asleep. If you do other things in bed than sleeping, it can actually make your sleep WORSE because your brain starts to associate other emotions, feelings, activities with your bed instead of sleep.

Is it normal to wake up during the night?

Yes! Everyone wakes up 4-5 times per night, most people just don't remember waking. This happens every time between stages 4 and 1 when the sleep cycle starts over.

DO OR DON'T - Listen to your favorite band to help you fall asleep.

Don't! (unless it's Mozart)  You should listen to calm, relaxing music or a noise machine to help you fall asleep. This helps your body to relax as opposed to activating your body and brain when it's loud, lyrical exciting music.
