This program gives students the opportunity to develop and implement a community impact project over one academic semester. The mini-grants, ranging from $500-$4,000 will enable students to partner with the local community, reflect upon their programs, and provide immediate support to an important cause.

Visitors can come to campus without any pre-approvals. All visitors, guests and contractors must wear a mask at all times on campus, except while eating, and maintain distancing when possible. This is needed prior to arrival on campus and shown to the campus host only for:

  • Overnight or multi-day (consecutive days) visitors and contractors
  • Visitors and contractors who come to campus from an international location

This will provide volunteers with non-program specific information about risk management, volunteer expectations, waivers, Department of Community Service programs, as well as leadership opportunities. All Waltham Group volunteers must complete this once during their time volunteering at Brandeis.

This program, which was created by last year's CEAP cohort, aims to connect service clubs, student groups, and other student organizations which do service across campus to share community service resources, plan community service projects, advertise opportunities for collaboration, and build a stronger community. Service is represented by mutually beneficial community engagement efforts that address larger community needs. Our goal is to support community engagement efforts led by students. Though you may not represent a “Community Service club”, we are a resource for the student body in all community service projects. Such Community Service clubs include Waltham Group and other service clubs, including Education for Students by Students, Relay for Life, etc.

What is the Community Organizing and Resource Network (CORN)?

This organization is the first of its kind to apply the law school clinic model to the undergraduate level. By training undergraduate students so they can become DOJ accredited representatives, this organization aims to make sure no one must face the immigration process alone.

This program has had several successful collaborations with other student organizations to host creative programming for the kids, such as the Prosthesis Club, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, BeWISE, and the Robotics club.

This is a a pilot Leadership & Mentorship Program for BIPOC college and Waltham high School students and supporters. The program hopes to foster educational, leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. 

Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, Brandeis University Alumni, members of the Waltham community, and current Brandeis graduate students will mentor Brandeis undergraduate students who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color. In the fall, this program will provide a mentor and create workshops for Brandeis undergraduate students while in the spring the undergraduates will channel their acquired leadership skills to mentor Waltham High School self-identified BIPOC Sophomore, Junior and Seniors. 

The program will include workshops, retreats, online and in-person mentor and Mentee meetings, and the full support of Brandeis Department of Community Service, Brandeis Intercultural Center, Waltham Partnership for Youth (WPY), and Waltham Black Future Fund.

This organizations engages, inspires and involves the entire community in a love of learning. The group organizes unique classes, facilitates discussions and creates events, such as TEDxBrandeisUniversity and Splash, that make knowledge easily accessible to members of the community. In the annual TEDxBrandeisUniversity Event, members from the Brandeis community are given the platform to share their ideas with the campus and the world. Splash is a community education event where hundreds of grade 6-12 youth come to campus for a day to take fun and unique classes taught by Brandeis students.

This organization is a student-led club that focuses on advancing the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association through our three main goals: volunteering, outreach, and research related to Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). They are the primary resource on the Brandeis campus to connect students with information about the disease, current research updates, advocacy initiatives, and volunteering opportunities.

This is the year when Lori Levinson Luft ’69 and a small group of Brandeis friends created the Waltham Group.

What is 1966?

Program History: When Lori Levinson Luft ’69 and a small group of Brandeis friends created the Waltham Group in 1966, they sparked a movement at Brandeis that continues to inspire students today. Now 55 years later, Brandeis students annually provide over 40,000 hours of volunteer service through more than 40 community service clubs, founded and led by student leaders like Lori. Generously funded by her family, the Community Engagement Ambassador Program will engage talented Brandeis students whose passion for community service and values reflect those of Dr. Lori Levinson Luft ’69. Their work will honor Lori’s memory and be a fitting tribute to her remarkable contributions to Brandeis.

This organization hopes to inspire and encourage women in science and engineering to realize their professional and personal goals and address issues inherent in maintaining a diverse and balanced workforce. 

In past years, this organization has strived to foster confidence and literacy in STEM fields in youth from underrepresented groups through free mentorship programs in Waltham.
