What type of cell?
Vocab Review
100
This man proposed that all cells come from other cells in 1855.
Who is Virchow?
100
All organisms are made of these.
What are cells?
100
This type of cell does not have a nucleus.
What is a prokaryotic cell?
100
One of the first concepts developed in Biology that gives three major principles about cells.
What is the cell theory?
200
He was the first scientist to note that plants were made of cells.
Who is Schleiden?
200
This is the most basic unit of life.
What is the cell?
200
This cell's DNA is found suspended in the cytoplasm.
What is a prokaryotic cell?
200
Microscopic single-celled organisms that do not have a nucleus.
What are prokaryotic cells?
300
He was the first to identify cells and invent the three lens microscope.
Who is Hooke?
300
This is one of the first concepts developed in Biology.
What is the cell theory?
300
This type of cell has a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
What is a eukaryotic cell?
300
Multi-cellular or single-celled organisms that have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
What are eukaryotic cells?
400
This man concluded that all living things are made up of cells.
Who is Schwann?
400
There are three of these.
What are parts to the cell theory.
400
These cells are microscopic single-celled organisms.
What are prokaryotic cells?
400
The jelly-like substance found in cells and contain building blocks such as proteins, nucleic acids, minerals, and ions.
What is cytoplasm?
500
This man made an improved lens for the microscope and because of that he was able to observe cells in greater detail.
Who is Leeuwenhoek?
500

State all three parts of cell theory.

Cells are the basic units of life.

All animals are made of cells.

Cells come from other pre-existing cells.

500
These are multi-cellular or single-celled organisms with the nucleus being the biggest organelle.
What are eukaryotic cells?
500
Specialized structures that perform distinct processes within a cell.
What are organelles?
