How do plants make their food?
Photosynthesis
How do animals get their food?
Eating
What are the three things that plants need to make food?
Water, sun, CO2
Would there be oxygen without plants?
No
What are the three main types of nutrients?
Fat, protein and carbohydrates
What is the cell part that allows plants to make their own food?
The chloroplast
How do animals get oxygen?
Breathing with respiratory system
What are the two things needed for cellular respiration to happen?
Oxygen and Sugar
Would there be CO2 without plants?
Yes
Which category of nutrients do noodles, carrots, lettuce and candy belong in?
Carbohydrates
Do plant cells do cellular respiration?
Yes
Which cell part makes energy in animal cells?
The mitochondria
What are the two things created by photosynthesis?
Sugar and Oxygen
Would there be sugar without plants?
No
Which category of nutrients do cheese, chicken, fish and milk belong in?
Protein
No, they can make their own sugar and oxygen which allows them to do cellular respiration without animals
Do animals need plants to give them anything for cellular respiration?
Yes, they need plants to give them oxygen
What are the three things that are created by cellular respiration?
ATP energy, CO2 and water
Would any animals be able to make ATP energy without plants? WHY?
No, because animals get sugar and oxygen from plants and use them to make ATP energy.
What do carbohydrates break into after they are digested?
Sugar
How do plants turn sun and air into ATP, CO2 and water? INCLUDE ALL THE STEPS!!
Plants use the sun, water and CO2 to make sugar and oxygen. Then the oxygen and sugar goes through the mitochondria and makes CO2, ATP and water during cellular respiration.
How do animals turn food and air into ATP, CO2 and water? INCLUDE ALL THE STEPS!!
Animal eat carbohydrates and digest them into sugars and send them to the cells through the blood. They breathe in oxygen from the air and send it to the cells through the blood. Once in the cells, the oxygen and sugar goes through the mitochondria and makes CO2, ATP and water during cellular respiration.
How are the inputs and outputs of photosynthesis and cellular respiration related to each other?
The inputs and outputs are nearly the same, just reversed!
What would happen to all life on earth if plants disappeared tomorrow?
Animals would ultimately die because they would have no oxygen to breathe or carbohydrates to eat.
What do proteins break down into after digestion?
Amino Acids
