Why is it important to attend work and trainings as scheduled

SAFETY - we must maintain proper ratio and coverage at all times

TRUST - students and coworkers benefit from stability and consistency

GROWTH - you miss opportunities for professional development and leadership

200

Shoe requirements

Shoes must be comfortable so that you are able to walk around, run, play games, and complete your assigned tasks. All shoe types, including sandals, slides, and Crocs, must utilize a back strap for safety.

200

If you have a conflict with student, family, coworker, or supervisor

Act responsibly and professionally and to seek guidance from supervisory personnel

200
2 examples of "Red Light" behaviors when engaging with coworkers
  • Date someone in a different role as you

  • Gossip

  • Put an existing personal relationship ahead of the interests of the group, program, or of that person’s professional growth.

  • Connect with a CIT on social media (THEY ARE PARTICIPANTS)

200

Who to NOT connect with on social media

Participants, their family members, CITs

(exceptions if you are related, previously had social relationship)

Not recommended: staff in different roles

200

What to do if you wake up at 7am and feel too sick to come in

Immediately text and/or email supervisor. Make sure they confirm they saw your message.

Short / pants policy

Shorts: fingertip length, allow full range of motion

Leggings and fingertip-length biker: if the fabric is thick enough to ensure that underwear is not visible.

Ripped jeans are not allowed.

Pajama pants are not allowed except on program-designated PJ theme days.

300

Substance use

The consumption of alcoholic beverages, marijuana and/or other drugs will not be tolerated prior to or during work hours (including during breaks)

Smoking and using e-cigarettes are not allowed in any parts of the workplace

300

Potential drawback(s) of confiding in a co-worker about a difficult/tricky work-related situation OR sharing heavy personal situations on a regular basis with a co-worker

Co-worker may add to your frustration instead of advising you to seek supervisor support.

May become distracting from completing your job responsibilities.

300

What to do with photos you take during program

- Upload to drive

- Delete from personal device

300

What to do if you have a dentist appointment scheduled for the end of the month

Email supervisor at least 2 weeks ahead of time

400

Dress code guidance to keep in mind at the end of the work day

We encourage you to change out of your CFL shirt before you leave the school, as you are representing the agency to the wider community

You should consider wearing appropriate clothes whenever you are on the school grounds especially if participants/parents are around. Consider logos/words on shirts, and how revealing your clothes are.

400

Examples of (non-physical) boundaries to maintain with students and families

Staff are not permitted to buy gifts for participants

Staff may not share personal home address, phone number, or email address with participants or parents/guardians

400

Define colluding in the context of work

2 or more individuals secretly cooperating to engage in unethical or manipulative behavior for personal gain or to harm others (e.g. talking about work with coworkers in a way that contributes to a toxic or hostile work environment, causing a situation to escalate through gossip rather than direct communication with coworkers/supervisors)

400
It is prohibited to post

Any references to CFL on your accounts (incl photos of you in your staff shirt)

Any photos of participants, coworkers, CITs, etc. (even without faces)

400

It's necessary to submit a doctor's note when

You've missed more than 3 consecutive workdays

500

Purpose of the CFL school-based dress code

To safely and comfortably participate in activities alongside children while minimizing attention to our bodies

500
If you have feedback for NYCPS / school building employees (principal, school admin, custodial staff, kitchen staff, etc.)

All employees have the right and are encouraged to submit ideas, suggestions, and concerns to their supervisors

Do NOT communicate this to NYCPS/ school building employees directly

500

Examples of putting personal friendships ahead of professional relationships

Giving the person some “slack” because they’re your friend, family member, or girlfriend/boyfriend.

Letting them get away with things that you wouldn’t let others get away with.

Giving the person preferential treatment or unearned opportunities

Supporting the person’s side in a conflict with someone else in the group because they’re your friends, family, etc., and not because you think their position makes sense

Letting someone else's personal opinion of a coworker affect how you view them

500

Potential risk(s) of having your accounts public

Students may find information about your personal life that you are not prepared/willing to discuss with them

Even if your out-of-work activities are not affiliated with/regulated by CFL, students or their families could express concerns

500

If your scheduled shift is 8:45AM to 3:15PM but you're out sick, how many hours can you request in Paylocity?
