Their sacred scripture told them that God had chosen the land for the Jewish people and that one day they would return to it Jews everywhere rejoiced when the UN voted to give part of Palestine back to the Jews, but the Arabs in Palestine did not want to give up their land. The Arabs who lived int eh nearby countries of Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt were also angry because they did not want to see their fellow Arabs lose their homes.
