What is the abdominal cavity?
Contains the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix,liver, gallbladder,pancreas, and spleen.
What are body Planes?
The imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.
What does Deep mean?
Body structures located away from the surface.
What does Inferior mean?
Body parts below body parts.
What does proximal mean?
The location of the extremities (arms and legs) in relation to the main trunk of the body.
What are the abdominal regions?
The central regions are epigastric,umbilical,hypogastric, left hypochondriac, right lumbar, left lumbar, right ilac, left ilac, right hypochondriac
What is a buccal cavity?
Mouth for teeth and tongue cavity.
What does distal mean?
Body parts distant from the point of reference (Ex wrist)
What is the midsagittal plane
If a sagittal plane runs down the midline of the body and divides the body into equal halves.
What is the sagittal plane?
Divides the body into left and right sections.
What is the Anterior?
Body parts in the front.
What is a Caudal?
Body parts near the sacral region of the spinal column.
What is the Dorsal?
One long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What is the nasal cavity?
Cavity for the nose.
What is the spinal cavity?
Contains the spinal cord.
What is Bilateral mean?
Affect both sides of the body.
What is the Cranial?
The body parts located near the head.
What is the frontal? (coronal plane)
Divides the body into a front and a back section.
What is the orbital cavity?
Cavity for the eyes.
What is the thoracic cavity?
Located in the chest and contains the esophagus.
What are body cavities?
Spaces within the body that contain vital organs.
What is Cranial Activity?
Contains the brain.
What does Lateral Mean?
Body parts away from the midline
What is the pelvic cavity?
Contains the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine.
What are ventral cavities?
Larger than dorsal cavities and are separated into two distinct cavities.
