Abdominal cavity

  1. The superior (upper) part of the abdominopelvic cavity. It contains the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen.

Abdominal regions

  1. A more precise method of division (than quadrants) that divides the abdomen into nine regions (Figure 7-9 in the text).

Means the point of reference is close to the trunk of the body or close to the point of reference.

  1. Pertains to the back of the body (or toward the back).

The cavity (or mouth) for the teeth and tongue

The cavity located in the chest and contains the esophagus, trachea, bronchi, lungs, heart, and large blood vessels
