What is a Abdominal cavity
Contains the stomach, small intestine, most of the large intestine, appendix, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen.
What are Abdominal regions
The nine parts divided from the abdominal cavity.
What is Anterior
Towards the front of the body.
What is Bilateral
Conditions that affect both sides of the body.
What is Body cavities
Spaces within the body that contain vital organs.
What is Body planes
Imaginary lines drawn through the body at various parts to separate the body into sections.
What is Buccal cavity
Small cavity for teeth and tongue.
What is Caudal
Body parts located near the sacral region of the spinal column.
What is Cranial
Body parts located near the head.
What is Cranial cavity
One part of the dorsal cavity that contains the brain.
What is Deep
Structures that are located away from the body surface.
What is Distal
Body parts distance from the point of reference.
What is Dorsal
One long, continuous cavity located on the back of the body.
What is Frontal (coronal) plane
Divides the body into a front section and a back section.
What is Inferior
Body parts below other parts.
What is Lateral
Body parts away from the midline.
What is Medial
Body parts close to the midline.
What is Midsagittal plane
If a sagittal plane runs down the midline of the body and divides the body into equal halves.
What is Nasal cavity
Small cavity for nose structures.
What is Orbital cavity
Small cavity for eyes.
What is Pelvic cavity
Contains the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the last part of the large intestine.
What is Posterior
Towards the back of the body.
What is Proximal
Body parts close to the point of reference
What is Sagittal plane
Divides the body into left and right sections.
What is Spinal cavity
One part of the dorsal cavity that contains the spinal cord.
