What is aqueous humor?
Aqueous humor is a clear, watery fluid that fill the space between the cornea and iris.
What is the conjunctiva?
The conjunctiva lines the eyelids and covers the front of the eye to provide additional protection and lubrication.
What is the lens?
The lens is a circular structure located behind the pupil and suspended in position by ligaments.
What is refraction?
Refracts - bend light rays to focus
What is the vestibule?
The vestibule is and oval cavity and is crucial for balance.
What is the auditory canal?
The auditory canal produces ear wax, and sound waves travel through this canal.
What is the cornea?
The cornea is a circular transparent part of the front of the sclera.
What is the organ of corti?
The organ of corti transmits the impulses from sound waves to the auditory nerve.
What is the retina?
The retina is made of many layers of nerve cells, and transmits the light impulses to the optic nerve.
What is vitreous humor?
Vitreous humor is a jellylike substance that fills the area behind the lens.
What is the auricle?
The auricle is the outer ear, or the visible part of the ear.
What is the eustachian tube?
The eustachian tube allows air to enter the middle ear and helps equalize air pressure on both sides.
What are ossicles?
Ossicles are small bones in the middle ear.
What is the sclera?
The sclera is the outermost layer, tough connective tissue, "white" of the eye.
WHat is the choroid coat?
The choroid coat is the middle layer of the eye, interlaced with many blood vessel that nourish the eyes.
What is the iris?
The iris is the colored portion of the eye and controls the size of the retina.
What is the pinna?
The pinna is the outer ear, elastic cartilage covered by skin. (auricle)
What are semicircular canals?
Semicircular canals contain liquid and hairlike cells, impulses sent to the cerebellum and help with balance.
What is the cochlea?
The cochlea is shaped like a snail shell and contains delicate mechanoreceptor cells.
What are lacrimal glands?
Lacrimal glands produce tears in the eye which constantly moistens and cleanses the eye.
What is the pupil?
The pupil is the opening in the center of the iris.
What is the tympanic membrane?
The tympanic membrane separates the outer ear from the middle ear and transmits sound. (eardrum)
