You can NOT legally diagnose cavities to patients ever! you must let them know that the doctor will be right in to explain what is seen on Xray.

Depending on the office, you can have fake nails but must be short and cleaned always before seeing patient
Never cure, but dry area, place gauze and jelly where numbing will be done and let it sit for 5 min or until doctor is ready to numb

Get a refusal of X-ray document, have patient signs it, and let doctor know, and let patient know we can not DIAGNOSE without x-rays
properly cap needle
To safely recap a dental needle, never recap it with both hands and avoid recapping if possible. If recapping is necessary, use a one-handed "scoop" method or a protective device like cotton pliers

to harden, or "cure," dental restorative materials like white fillings, crowns, and cements
