You can NOT legally diagnose cavities to patients ever! you must let them know that the doctor will be right in to explain what is seen on Xray.

Never cure, but dry area, place gauze and jelly where numbing will be done and let it sit for 5 min or until doctor is ready to numb

properly cap needle
To safely recap a dental needle, never recap it with both hands and avoid recapping if possible. If recapping is necessary, use a one-handed "scoop" method or a protective device like cotton pliers

to harden, or "cure," dental restorative materials like white fillings, crowns, and cements
