1930 Salt March 

In an act of civil disobedience, Mahatma Gandhi led a Salt March for 24-days where he and his followers marched 240 miles in protest of the British salt monopoly. Once they reached the coastline, Gandhi took some salt from the sea in defiance. Started with only 80 people, the March drew in over 50,000 protestors.
