Why is Hanukah celebrated?

The Syrian-Greeks wouldn't allow Jews to practice customs like Shabbat, circumcision, prayers or Torah study.  

Judah and his brothers led a rebellion against the Syrian army to allow them to pray in the 2nd temple. After the temple was cleansed and cleaned, it was used again.  Hanukah means "rededication."
