It was a nice letter and Tommy had beautiful penmanship. I was sorry I tore up the first. His statement that whether I answered him or not would not influence his affection reassured me

Bailey. Marguerite could not tell Bailey what happened because she burst out laughing each time she tried to tell him.

Before the train reached the crossing, Bailey ran across the tracks and Marguerite did not know if Bailey was hit by the train, if he had jumped onto the train and was taking it to it’s destination or not, until the train had passed and she saw him on the other side.
