The land in the Interior Plains is either flat or rolling whereas in the Rocky Mountains there are steep mountains that jut up. The Interior Plains have prairies with tall grasses but the Rocky Mountains are tall and jagged, and can be snow-capped.

What is the difference between a river and a river system?
A river is simply a body of fresh, moving water that begins at a source and ends at a mouth, where it empties into a larger body of water. However, a river system includes the river and its tributaries, or the steams or rivers that flow into a larger stream or river. A river system drains, or carries water away from, the land around it.
