Remember: At first, the Qing government allowed trade with Europeans. However, the Qing limited all European traders to a small island just outside Guangzhou. The reason for this action was to limit contacts between Europeans and Chinese. Remember: The most famous of all the arts of the Ming Era was probably blue-and-white porcelain. Europeans appreciated the beauty of this porcelain and collected it in large amounts. Different styles of porcelain were produced during the reign of individual emperors.

What are Japan and China?
