For a normal distribution, using the empirical rule, what percent of the data is more than 1 standard deviation away from the mean?
32%
Everything except the 68% in the middle

Which ones are TRUE?
a. LSRL go through the (mean x, mean y) point
b. Correlation is affected by outliers
c. Switching the x and y doesn't change the correlation
All are TRUE
Using the LSRL: ln (y) = 3.95 + 0.5x
Predict the y when x = 5

Using the scatterplot on the board, describe the association.
There is a moderately strong negative linear association between height and SAT score. There are no unusual points.
What is the name of the theoretical bridge between two points in spacetime that the crew uses to reach another galaxy?
If the correlation r = -0.95, then explain whether that provides proof that the association between the two variables is linear or not.
It doesn't prove it. The reason is that even a non linear scatterplot may have an association that is strongly negative (or positive). That is why we don't use r to prove linearity. We use the scatterplot and residual plot to prove it.
What is a residual?
The difference between the actual or observed y value and the predicted y value
It's the amount of error in our predictions of y (to the LSRL)
If the residual for an LSRL predicting the amount of ketchup packets used in a month at Chick FilA came out 42, then explain what the residual 42 means (interpret it).
The LSRL underpredicted the amount of ketchup packets used
What is the name of the school where the top fighter pilots are trained?
Top Gun
If x bar = 14, y bar = 20, Sy = 4.9, and Sx = 8.3, r = 0.92 what is the slope of the LSRL?
0.543
Sy/Sx * r
What if a residual plot shows a curved pattern? What does that mean?
A straight line is not a good model of the data
OR
The data in the scatterplot is NOT linear

Using the empirical rule, where on a Normal distribution would the 84th percentile be? Draw a picture and show where.
It would be 1 standard deviation to the right of the mean (center)
A point far above the LSRL on the far right of the graph is removed, how would that affect the slope of the LSRL?
The slope would decrease
