The game the tribes played outside of a British fort. Weapons were hidden under blankets as the tribes rushed into the fort to surprise and capture the fort.

What are furs (beaver pelts)?
The Proclamation of 1763 said that settlers could not cross over this mountain range.
What are the Appalachian Mountains?
This natural resource attracted the French to come to Michigan.
What are beavers?
A core democratic value: To do what you wish as long as it does not hurt anyone. It is the freedom to do anything that is not against the law.
What is liberty?
In 1763, the tribes were upset. This brave and powerful leader started a rebellion against the British.
Who is Chief Pontiac?
Bonjour! I am a brave French priest who started two towns in the Upper Peninsula where I built a little church in each one. Sadly, I died as I was returning from exploring the Mississippi River.
Who is Father Jacque Marquette?
In the 1700's this group of people lost control of Michigan. This happened after they lost a war with he great and powerful British. (HAHAHA...laughed King George III)

Father Marquette helped to explore this river which no Europeans have ever explored. He traveled 600 miles south and turned around and headed back home. The river is NOT in Michigan.

The city of Detroit was started by the French to help control these large bodies of water. They wanted to keep an eye on the British.

The American Revolution (1775-1783) was fought. The British still remained in Michigan and surrounding land. The Americans were fed up and wanted the British out. General Anthony Wayne fought the British who eventually fled Michigan. Michigan became part of the United States in this year. (20 years after the Declaration of Independence.)
