 Lewinsky Scandal: accused of having an improper relationship with White House intern less than half his age. Bill Clinton gave a sworn deposition, denying the relationship and now her name was made public (Jan 1998). Bill Clinton testified in front of a grand jury and admitted to having a relationship (Aug 1998). Formally impeached by the House in Dec 1998 on two counts (perjury and obstruction of justice). Feb 1999 Senate acquits Bill Clinton.

How did the PC change the economy and culture?

The creation of the PC and internet led to many new job opportunities in the US. Even though the internet was still relatively new and didn’t yet have a huge impact, email began to replace conventional mail, newspapers and magazines were now being published online, there was also a vast amount of information for researchers. The PC and the internet also increased the wealth gap between poor and middle class because most could not offered to get a PC and have access to the web as well as low income schools did not have this access.

  Transportation and technological advancements led to a bigger surge of immigration. During this period the Immigration reform act of 1965 was also passed. Which eliminated quotas based on national origin also breaking a barrier previously implaced.

How did Bush win such a challenging election?

The 2000 election was very long, Bush won the recount, and on December 12, the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision gave Bush the win. He also lost the national popular vote and narrowly won the electoral vote, because of the Supreme Court decision.

 Political: Different government policies (Bush administrations placed restrictions on federally funded clinics + doctors ability to give out info, Clinton removed restrictions and replaced supreme court judges with judges who supported abortion. Ex: RBJ) Cultural: Pro life vs Pro choice, March for women’s lives, Planned parenthood.

Environmentalism showed a shift in culture from debates centering on class issues to ones more focused on individual and community life. Pro-choice and Pro-life showed the partisan stances of the two parties, and how they were constantly undoing each other's work as well as being continuously at war with each other.

Globalization involves interconnectedness of economies, cultures and societies and imperialism is the extension of colonization of the country's power. Globalization can be seen back to the spread of goods such as tobacco and imperialism can be seen in the colonization of native lands.
