What are periods?
An atom or group of atoms that has an electric charge.
What is an ion?
A chemical bond formed when two atoms share electrons.
What is a covalent bond?
An attraction between a positive metal ion and the electrons surrounding it.
What is a metallic bond?
It tells the ratio of elements in a compound.
What is a subscript?
The columns in the Periodic Table.
What are groups?
An ion made up of one atom.
What are polyatomic ions?
A neutral group of atoms joined by covalent bonds.
What is a molecule?
A mixture made of two or more elements, at least one of which is a metal.
What is an alloy?
A three-dimensional arrangement formed orderly by ions.
What is a crystal?
The electrons of an atom with the most energy.
What are valence electrons?
The attraction between two oppositely charged ions.
What is an ionic bond?
Two atoms sharing two pairs electrons.
What is a double bond?
Are free to move and can conduct an electric current.
What are charged particles?
A covalent bond in which electrons are shared equally.
What is a nonpolar bond?
A table that includes the atomic symbol of an element surrounded by dots.
What is electron dot diagram?
A compound made up of two oppositely charged ions.
What is an ionic compound?
Atoms that share three pairs of electrons.
What is a triple bond?
Hard, dense, and shiny.
What is a metal?
A covalent bond in which electrons are shared unequally.
What is a polar bond?
The force of attraction that holds atoms together as a result of the rearrangement of electrons between them.
What is a chemical bond?
A group of symbols that shows the ratio of elements in a compound.
What is a chemical formula?
A compound made up of molecules.
What is a molecular bond?
The ability to be bent easily and pulled into thin strands or wires.
What is ductility (ductile)?
The total energy of motion of all the particles in an object.
