This shows a part of a multiplication table. Find the missing numbers and explain how you found the numbers.

Missing numbers: 48, 49, 56

The first row is 5s. 35, 40 is counting by 5.

That means the second row is 6s. 42 plus 6 more is 48.

So the third row is 7s and so is the first column. 35, 42, 49 is how the column would go, since it is counting by 7. The last box is 56 because 49 plus 7 is 56.

Ruben is collecting cans for the recycling contest at school. He makes two plans to try to collect the most cans.

Plan A: Collect 20 cans each week for 9 weeks. Plan B: Collect 30 cans each week for 7 weeks.

Explain how you made your choice.

Plan B

30 x 7 is 210 and 20 x 9 is 180. 210 is greater than 180 so plan B would help him collect the most cans.
