Close friends and casual friends are similar in that both types of friends usually have some of the same interests. Two casual friends might both like soccer and play on the same team. Two close friends might like the same movies and music and spend a lot of time together. Close friends and casual friends are different in that close friends typically share close emotional bonds, whereas casual friends do not. For example, if a close friend moves away, you may be sad and lonely for months. If a casual friend moves away, you may miss the person but not feel sad and lonely because of the departure
