Be aware of what is considered to be a normal finding based on developmental age.
How do we interview someone who has potentially been abused?
- Separate them from the potential perpetrator.
- Do not be biased.
- Use open-ended questions ("Tell me what happened")
- Listen for cues of abuse, such as stories that don't match up.
