Physical
Body growth and includes height and weight changes, muscle and nerve development, and changes in body organs
Regression
Retreating to a previous developmental level that provided more safety and security than the current level an individual is experiencing
Self-actualization
People have obtained their full potentials or are what they want to be
Tension

Mental
Intellectual development; solving problems, make judgements, deal with situations
Physiological Needs
Physical, biological, or basic needs; required by every human being to sustain life (food, water oxygen)
Repression
Transfer of unacceptable or painful ideas, feelings, and thoughts into the unconscious mind
Sexuality
People’s feelings regarding their masculine/feminine natures, ability to give and receive love and affection, role in reproduction of the species
Terminal Illness
Disease that cannot be cured and will result in death
Middle Adulthood
40-65; middle aged
Projection
Placing the blame for one’s own actions/inadequacies on someone else or on circumstances rather than accepting responsibility

Controversial act that health care providers must understand; allows patients with terminal illnesses to refuse treatment
