What is the the timeline for Post Hearing, the AC and FDC

Post Hearing timeline is 1-4 months from record close. There is NO seat deadline in which the judge needs to make a decision. The AC timeline is 18-24 months. There is no timeline for FDC, typically it takes about 2 years.

Andrew Youngman is the CEO and lead advocate of Citizens Disability. His name will appear on all documents received from SSA.

What is the online application summary? Can the client throw this away since we sent a copy of the watermarked application to them and they don't need two.

NO! Client needs to make all changes on the form, sign and return to SSA. They will not process the claim without this

No, the client will not be going in front of the AC. The AC (appeals council) is a group of judges who reviews the decision made by the judge and all information in file at the time of decision.

VTC - Video Teleconference Conference. A VTC is when the client and representative are in one location, while the judge appears by a screen

What is the fee agreement AFTER the first hearing? What do we also submit to SSA in order to be paid on the claim?

The Fee Agreement indicates that we would collect 25% of the past due benefits. In cases like these we would submit a fee petition - which is an itemized list of all work done on the claim

What is a CE? Are all clients required to have one?

A CE is a consultative exam. This is when one of the doctors for SSA to look into the client's conditions. Not all client's are asked to have a CE, they are typically scheduled when they need more information in order to make a decision.

Will the client meet with the representative multiple times before the hearing?

The representative's job begins and ends at the hearing. They will be able to speak to the representative by phone one day prior. They will be in contact with the HT to prepare for the claim

Does Citizens handle FDC claims? If not, who does

Citizens works with an outside attorney named Karl Osterhout who specializes in FDC claims.

Client calls in indicating that their social security number is incorrect on the sigs. What do you do? Do you resend the sigs to the client on this

Ask the client for the correct social. Ask all security questions, build the app correction. No, you will not resend the sigs. Nikki will resend them once the claim is updated.

Client calls in stating that their claim was denied. Can we appeal this? What questions should you ask. What is the appeal deadline if we can

If a client calls in with a denial letter, you should always ask for the date on the letter and for them to read the first paragraph. IF the claim is a medical denial, we CAN appeal this. If it is a technical denial, it depends on the type. The appeal deadline is 60 days

What is the ERE? Why is this helpful

ERE is an electronic portal that allows us to give/receive information directly to the hearing office for a client. The ERE updates us with the current status of the claim to give us an idea of what is going on

What are the possible outcomes of the Appeals Council? What do each mean

Approval - Client would be awarded benefits. Denial - Client is unable to start receiving benefits, decision letter will be reviewed within 3-5 weeks for the best action going forward with the claim. Remand - The case will be going back before the judge in order for them to fix the errors that were found
