A degree that typically requires 120 credits to complete and often takes 4-5 years for full time students

A professor who is elected to act as the head of an academic department

This space on the first floor of the Library Building houses the Student Help Desk and the Professional Development Center
What is the Welcome Center?
Students will be placed on this status if, at the end of the semester, for the first time during their first 18 attempted credits of coursework, they fail to meet the college's minimum GPA standard.
What is Academic Alert?
Courses in the liberal arts and sciences that are required for all students regardless of major
What is the General Education (Gen Ed) Common Core?
A student taking fewer than 12 credits in a semester while working towards a degree
What is a part-time student?
A stop placed on a student's record that may prevent them from registering or using certain college resources
What is an academic hold?
This office is the first point of contact for a wide range of student services, including academic coaching, tutoring, emergency financial assistance, and much more
What is The Student Success Center?
Total credit hours of classes taken by a student, whether or not they actually receive credit by passing the class
What are attempted credits (or attempted hours)?
The term for a course that covers material in two or more departments or fields of study
What is interdisciplinary?
A course that must be successfully complete before a student can enroll in another course
What is a prerequisite?
A CUNY-wide initiative that sets a common core curriculum among all CUNY students, making transfer easier
What is Pathways?
Located on the ground floor of the Library Building, this space offers math and biology tutoring as well as computers and free printing
What is The Learning Center (or Atrium Learning Center)?
A policy that allows first semester students to change one grade on their semester transcript. Should only be used after consulting an advisor and the Registrar.
