Diversity in the U.S. has changed due to increased immigration to the United States since the opening of Ellis Island in 1892. The United States now has adapted to and accepted cultures that are different from our own. We have melded American culture with that of Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, etc. Food is one instance of how diversity has shaped the culture of the U.S. Clothing styles and other customs have also shifted due to immigrants bringing their culture to the U.S.
