* Federalism- is the division of powers between the states and national government.

-Delegated (Expressed) powers: are given to Congress

-Concurrent (Shared) powers: are shared by both

-Reserved powers: are those not given to the national government

* Separation of powers- prevents any branch from abusing its power.

* Checks and Balances- are a system that each branch limits the power of the other branches.
- These includes the veto and impeachment power.
